A little thing I thought I'd share:

I had a mini heart attack with this one. I haven't used watercolor in years and I was so afraid of messing this up. I thought I'd ink it first before laying on the paint, and that's when I started screaming and reaching for the tissues.

I was using water-based ink pens. My watercolors were making all my ink lines smudge and blot all over the place D: I'm just glad I managed to keep the disaster at a minimum.

Yay! She finally got out of the dessert! At least for the holiday. Great job on the watercolor work!

I was really surprised when you said that was watercolor. I was thinking copics. I didn't even know you could get such vibrant colors out of watercolor.

Two reasons why:
1. Using water-based pens meant I had to use almost no water for the watercolor themselves, so the colors are actually at their highest saturation, and
2. Photoshop. I adjusted the levels so the paper was as white as I could make it (my scanner isn't very good) without sacrificing the saturation. It ended up helping the colors to become more vivid :)

That makes a lot of sense. Our greatest mistakes are often how we get to the best result.
